Rounds Rx was created by a UK medical student who noticed a gap in revision resources.
Most resources help you learn the knowledge to pass an exam — but knowing something and being able to articulate it are two very different skills. This resource was created to help you explain the pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, investigations and management of conditions the way you would to a senior. Almost every placement requires this skill, yet we rarely get any preparation for it except when we are put on the spot!
Rounds Rx helps you retrieve that information and explain it clearly, whilst being a little time pressured — just like real life. Over time, this will help you feel more confident explaining conditions to clinicians, seniors, and patients alike. And as a bonus, it will sharpen your exam preparation too.
We've also added two practice modes to reflect the real demands of clinical life. In Consultant Mode, you'll practice articulating conditions in a structured, clear manner with scientific terminology — perfect for ward round presentations, vivas, and clinical examinations. In Patient Mode, you'll practice explaining the same conditions in clear, simple lay terms — an essential skill for OSCE communication stations, consent conversations, and everyday patient interactions. Because being a great doctor means being able to communicate with everyone.
How to use it

Choose your audience — Consultant Mode for ward rounds, Patient Mode for clear lay explanations

Choose your mode — go fully random or pick a specific specialty to focus on

Select your prep time — 5 mins, 10 mins, custom, or no prep at all. Use this time to gather your thoughts or glance at your notes

Present! — when the chime sounds, your speech timer begins. Present as if your consultant — or patient — is standing right in front of you. No pressure. Well — a little pressure. That's the point.
